The easiest way to train a dog: Clicker training

Training your dog with a clicker can substantially shorten the time it takes your pup to learn by up to 50%! Professional dog trainers use this system, and so can you.

How does Clicker Training work?

So why not just use a word like “good” or “yes”? Well. unlike the human voice, a clicker is always consistent. And to a dog´s ears one ´sit´ can sound completely different from the time you said it before!

Adorable puppy

Confused puppy

Have you ever noticed how your pup will be totally getting an exercize and then, all of a sudden, just forget all about it? Well, it might just be that your tone is just a little higher or lower when you say sit. To a dog, it immediately sounds like something completely different!

By clicking every time your dog presents behaviour you want and then rewarding it, you will ingrave on its mind that “click” is good!

I read about it, watched the helpfull videos, and I´m all excited and starting today.

Check out those videos, ´cause they´re are so helpful! It even teaches your dog how to ring a bell if it needs to go potty! (I´ve got to try that next ;)

How to stop your dog from whining

Most dogs grow out of whining in the early age around the six-month age. If your dog is still whining after this period, it means your dog is either doing it unintentionally, or he has learned a method to get him something that your dog needs.

There are a variety of reasons as to why your adult mixed-breed dog might be whining:

Suffering pain – physical or emotional pain.

Bored or feeling lonely.

Needs to go outside.

Feeling afraid or anxious.

Your response to her whining really depends on the cause of it. Sometimes whining is acceptable, and does require a response – and sometimes, it is merely manipulative. Other times it may be tolerable, but the response that comes most naturally will not necessarily help your dog. Therefore, your dog keeps on whining during late night and it causes disturbance to your neighbors.

It is important to know that which particular whining means pain. Stomach discomfort and arthritis are normally making your dog call out for help. If whining still persists within long period of time, it is time to seek consultation from your veterinarian.

Some breeds are quite playful and demand for more accompany. This particular type of breed like Terriers, Pointers and Beagle requires more attention from its owners. These dogs need to be trained to play alone when you are not around.

Other than that, some breeds are very fragile in terms of getting anxious easily. These particular breeds are afraid of thunderstorm, heavy wind blow and rattling window panes. You need to intensively encourage him to overcome his fears and do not punish him for being afraid.

paper traing vs crate training

2009
03.02

A cute cuddly chi puppy doesn´t know the difference between going on outtside or soiling your carpet. You´re going to have to teach her. So, now you have to learn about potty training dogs.

There are many ways to potty train a puppy. One is paper training, another is crate training. Paper training is generally considered the easier of the two methods, but I don´t agree. Once you finally convince your pup to pee & poo on a newspaper, she now has to start all over and pee outside! So basically, your teaching her two sepearte things. Can´t be good, right? So I´d go with Crate training

Also, I´m a chi owner, but imagine a much larger pup doing its business inside your home! A labrador or a great dane? Vs a bit of paper?

It may take a bit longer, but crate training has the added convenience of having your puppy relieve themselves outside from the start. The principle is that a puppy won´t soil its own nest, so it won´t go in the crate, but wait to be taken out. This way it´ll learn to indicate when it needs to go.

When crating, you never leave your puppy unsupervised outside of their crate. You let the pup out before going into the crate and immediately after being let out of the crate. And your rugs are safe!

Planning to take your pup on plane? Check out this great website! It really helped Violet and me.
